There are certain qualities that clearly distinguish us Riskcarians, and we hope these ring true when you meet us. Our leaders seek to continually practice and promote these values. After all, you are placing a high level of trust in us, and this is the foundation of our relationship with you.
By all measures, we are a high-trust organisation. We take decisions quickly, communicate effectively and operate efficiently. We minimise internal process and bureaucracy. We invest in shared values that make us want to work with each other in many different projects and environments.
These habits are second nature to most of us, and they can be continually improved, and we monitor them to check that we all fit together well in our teams.
- Proactivity – we are self-starters, engage with stakeholders early, anticipate issues, take initiative – we try to be on the front foot to ensure that our projects are as smooth as possible.
- Ownership – everybody knows their role, their purpose, their responsibility and their authority, and we are all empowered accordingly. Our clients know who to go to for any request, and are confident that we will handle it. We aim to be a politics-free workplace, which is greatly assisted by having clear lines of ownership.
- Quality of workmanship – we work to the highest common denominator of our own standards and our clients’ standards – often they are happily one and the same. Taking personal pride in what we deliver, personally and corporately, is one of our key measures of success. A high quality end-product soon pays off with fast adoption, reliable operation and a long service life.
- Collaboration and teamwork – our teams must literally be more productive than the sum of their parts to compete with 'augmentation' projects. If not, then we have failed as a company. We have an open culture and tasks are assigned on merit rather than seniority. Knowing that each team member shares these same values give us the trust needed to be immediately productive for our clients.
- Expectation management – all successful projects have a common purpose and understanding among stakeholders – sponsors, testers, designers, coders. Every individual knows their objectives and the commitments, and any imbalance is addressed immediately – a problem shared is a problem halved. We check there are no implied understandings (unvoiced assumptions) - our goal is that everyone knows that everyone else shares their understanding.
